This air vehicle was developed by MDI so it can run without gas and without electricity, although it is still hybrid (electricity / air). On non-licensed carts (or golf carts), it can accommodate two passengers and offers an exceptional trunk volume of 400 liters.
Empty, it weighs only 280 kg and has a cruising range of about 100 km (according to the manufacturer, 360 km on a battery). With AirPod 2.0, you will be able to travel at a maximum speed of 45 km/h - the maximum speed for vehicles that drive without a license (but with training). It is technically equipped with a single-cylinder pneumatic engine with an output of about 10 horsepower.
From a design point of view, it looks like a big ball, all curved and curved. Its appearance makes it an ally of the future for the city, it can park even at a 90° angle. We don't know if the AirPod 2.0 will give way to urban dwellers who are not very good at driving two-wheeled vehicles, to tame this new form of transportation.

The AirPod is rated for a range of 100 to 120 km in mono-energy, that is, when it uses only compressed air. The exhaust of MDI vehicles only emits air and water vapor.
The compressed air is stored in a braided carbon fiber tank and used at 248 bar.
To drive 300/360 km with a full tank of compressed air, you can choose to run the engine in dual-energy mode.
This increase in autonomy is achieved by a burner that heats the air outside the engine. This action triples the expansion of the air and, therefore, the autonomy of the vehicle with a fuel consumption when using bioethanol or any other hydrocarbon fuel of 0.5 liters per 100 km.
Similar to a continuous burning gas stove, this heating of the air is achieved up to 600 degrees with virtually zero hazardous emissions of nitrogen dioxide (NOX) and unburned hydrocarbons (HC). Advanced air expansion control technology allows MDI engines to achieve real efficiency of over 68% between reservoir and engine outlet.
