Autonomous robot MiRo-E

is a fully programmable autonomous robot for researchers, educators, developers and healthcare professionals. Friendly, flexible and intelligent - Miro-E is an inexpensive and sophisticated robotic platform with high demands, designed and developed for schools and universities. MiRo is a flexible platform suitable for developing companion robots with six senses, eight degrees of freedom, an innovative brain-inspired operating system, and a simulation software package.

Future social robots will share our personal space, interact with us and with each other to provide emotional engagement and entertainment. MiRo is based on the simple premise that animals have qualities that are desirable in today's social robots. They are strong, adaptable, and convey their feelings well. Our approach is to create robots that think and act like animals; from their feelings and decision-making processes, down to their body and behavior. This makes MiRo especially suitable for robot-human interaction and robot-team interaction. Building on the knowledge of our MiRo-B, which is used by researchers and developers at universities around the world, we have completely redesigned the MiRo mechatronics and software to create the perfect companion designed for educational purposes.

Entertaining and emotional MiRo-E reacts to human interaction

✔ MiRo-E loves to be stroked
Touch MiRo-E and watch it purr, light up, wiggle its ears, and wag its tail.

✔ MiRo-E hears your voice
Clap, speak or make any sound, MiRo-E will move towards you or even to the side if it is alarmed

✔ MiRo-E sees you and everything around
MiRo-E loves movement and will follow you when you move
Film That's Not All. MiRo-E can be easily programmed
for much more! So what's inside?
MiRo-E was created on the basis of many years of technical research and several iterations of MiRo! The MiRo-E is packed with a wide variety of transducers, the considerable degree of freedom of which provides the MiRo-E's excellent expressive communication skills. The Raspberry Pi 3B + core provides a familiar and versatile framework for coders of all ages! From the box
easy to install and repair
MiRo-E has been pre-assembled and ready to go! Setting up is simple: just plug in the batteries and that's it. Visit our welcome page.

We designed the MiRo-E so that the end user can repair it as much as possible. This means there will be no more costly repairs or long waiting times for your robot to be repaired on another continent if something goes wrong. And if any issues arise, we have a top-notch support team committed to answering any questions as painlessly as possible. ||||| MiRo-E, an advanced robotic platform for research and education
MiRo-E is a high-precision, flexible, low-cost, programmable artificial intelligence robotic platform designed to mimic the familiar behavior of pets. Create fun and socially engaging classroom activities for every student. Using MiRo-E can create a diverse and collaborative classroom that anyone and everyone can participate in! Watch your students enjoy writing programs that bring their robots to life! MiRo-E can see, hear and interact with its environment, providing endless programming possibilities that will push the student to be creative. Students learn quickly, enjoy STEM subjects, and experience physical outcomes that can be linked and applied to real-life problems.

Key points:
MiRo-E 3rd Generation has been completely redesigned and adapted for teaching from our previous version for university developers.
It works right out of the box using a smartphone to easily set it up to showcase pet behavior in pastoral / demo mode.
A flexible platform for teaching robotics programming from first principles of elementary school to high-level university studies.
The easy-to-learn programming interface has been specially designed to provide an attractive and accessible method for coding and modeling MiRo.
Simulate the behavior of the MiRo-E on the screen with the Gazebo computer program, which means the whole class can work on programming and only one or two MiRo-E are required for each class.

Emotionally attractive personality, friendly, familiar and calm.
Modern technology of biomimetic AI reproduces the behavior of small mammals
It has a powerful Raspberry Pi B 3+ processor built into it, in which the software is loaded.
Fully programmable, maintainable and upgradeable by a user with average experience.
A unique brain-based biomimetic control system [3BCS] developed by the University of Sheffield and Bristol Robotics Laboratory.
Online support system based on our laboratories in Bristol with regular software updates.
Exchanges data using Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / USB, which allows:
Configuring Bluetooth and Configuring Behavior Using MiRo-E App for Android.
WiFi gives you access to more powerful computing and cloud services.
What is Miro doing?

MiRo-E is programmed to respond to people and other MiRo through recognition, movement, sound and light. It is offline in demo / pastoral mode. It responds to touch, stroking and sound. It is a proven flexible and useful tool for complex university research. This has the potential to help treat neurological conditions [SEN to dementia], and we are continuing our research in these areas.

MiRo has proven useful as a pastoral and cognitive therapy tool and we are continuing our research in the following areas:
Special educational needs of children and adults.
High-level university research that wants to hack robots or create their own programs.
MiRo-E 3rd generation has been specially designed for education, including:

Elementary schools using physical MiRo-E and easy-to-learn interface MiRo Educational Programming [MiRoCODE] to teach elementary school students the basics of robotics and coding principles.
High schools using MiRoCODE with Blockly or Python, or developing in the Python and C ++ programming languages.
Pet in the classroom at the elementary school.
Research in the field of therapy for persons with special educational needs and problems of the elderly.
Advanced students can use the separate Linux development environment [our MDK] to explore more complex research and behaviors.

How long does the MiRo battery last and how is it charged? - MiRo comes with a rechargeable battery and built-in charger. Battery life varies by use, but is approximately 6+ hours active and 12+ hours standby.

What is the potential? - MiRo, with the necessary know-how and programming, can be used by experienced users to perform a wide range of custom functions.

Stereo HD vision can be programmed for:
Face recognition and analysis of mood and body language
Situational Awareness
Optical navigation using objects and ceiling as landmarks
Custom applications for four microphones can include:
Acoustic mapping to understand where the sound is coming from
React to ambient noise so behavior responds to it
Obey certain voice commands
Voice analysis detecting abnormal stress or excitement.
Situational Awareness
WiFi / Bluetooth / USB can provide access to:
More powerful computing for more complex tasks such as SLAM navigation and complex face recognition analysis
Working in remote environments for security and shooting
Cloud services like Alexa, Siri and Google
The only limit is your skill and imagination!
What is the MiRos programming language? “We mainly work in Python, although we also provide some examples in C ++, and of course the MiRoSim application uses Blockly. But with MiRo you can use any language that can talk to the ROS (Robot Operating System) interface. For software running on a robot, the embedded environment is Raspbian Linux.
