Engineered Arts Ltd was founded in October 2004 by Director Will Jackson. Initially, Engineered Arts used the talents of local artists and engineers to create a range of custom installations. Many of these projects included simple mechanical shapes animated with standard industrial controllers. The role of Mechanical Actors took a significant step forward when, in early 2005, the company began work on the Mechanical Theater for the Eden project. It involved three people, and the storylines focused on genetic modification. Rather than developing another special set of figures for this new commission, we decided to develop a generic programmable figure to be used for the Mechanical Theater, and a series of similar commissions that will hopefully follow.
The result was the RoboThespian Mark 1 (RT1).
Since then, the Company has changed direction and is now fully concentrating on the development and sale of an ever-expanding range of humanoid and semi-humanoid robots with natural human movements and advanced social behavior.
We are fortunate enough to hire a team of extremely talented people, each of whom are experts in their respective fields of software development, mechanical engineering, 3D design and animation.
